Ice and other things....

Hi there...if anybody still reads this (we've all moved to Facebook in the ESEC crowd...) Am sitting and getting addresses for the last of my Christmas cards; most of the schools in the area (and in Chicago proper) had the day off school, so alas, no sub work...probably a lot of kids either celebrating (yeah, another day off school!) or let-down,as Christmas parties nay have been scheduled for today...like our neighbor's daughter who'd been  planning a sleepover...
Let's see...just finished a job (ahhh...didn't know if I passed the Spanish test or not, so I kept it temporary; and didn't pass yet...) and had a few other days after that . The research project is done . Thanks to God and Prof. Bakerson---- an -A ! Yeah! I'm waiting on the Adolescent literature class (fun) class grade; that school (IU-Bloomington ) had a late grading period, I believe.  All are healthy and staying warm here where we have a coating of ice and snow...but it is December!
God bless and have a Merry Christmas!!
Love,
Sheila

Loving the cool weather....am going to have to post the pickle pics...we've been blessed with bounty in the garden this year....
'Been trying to knit blankets--with funny results...
Am praying and looking, waiting for work, more than subbing, what God wants...

Been a busy summer. Finished that semester right after the last post, and am now taking "Sociological, Psychological & Linguistic Perspectives on Reading & Language and an Assessments class. Both started on June 30th and are slated to end on or before August 8th. Whew! I had a month's break, though. The perspectives class is pretty cool; a bunch of us who are going for either an ESL (ENL is the new educationally cool phrase) endorsement or major(I'm in the second category, but need a license to get the first!). I went up north with a friend to her place on Lake Superior. Nice, restful. Thanks, Sherri!
I have to start writing down my snippets on paper...I had so much I wanted to post, but with my laptop messed up(loosed AC jack) I can't just power up and write in my room, I need to descend to the depths and use the family computer.. I got motivated to fire up the new used desktop, though and may need to scavenge or buy a modem to go in it, as it was on a network before, and didn't need one.

God Bless.

Our classes are finished, and the schools have 4 and 6 weeks, depending on which one you're thinking of wotking for. I worked today and am scheduled  for Friday. Praise God!

Talk about cultural relevance.... SearchingForTreasurestalks about the meaning of contentment, in so many words.

I'm finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel....three class meetings next week and a final presentation on the 30th....then done. Whew! It's been informational. In my intro.to research class, we were able to focus on things we really found interesting; I chose teaching practices in the ENL/EFL classroom, with an emphasis on adult learners. Between the information I'm uncovering, e-mailing the researchers (an assignment, but a joy to actually talk about things that you find interesting (and helpful)), and learning ideas about reading difficulties, it's been really advantageous.....I some of this information could really help in future working environments....maybe overseas??
Not much personally. There's been so much to do that I haven't done much on the weekends, and sometimes not even during the week. It's almost over, but I plan on taking more classes in the summer....Lord-willing. After that? Work...somewhere.
